What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM built into most modern smartphones. You do not need to insert a physical SIM card. After purchase, you install the eSIM by scanning a QR code.
How can I tell if my phone supports eSIM?
Dial *#06# on your phone keypad. If you see a long EID number starting with 89, your phone supports eSIM. Do not confuse EID with MEID.
On iPhone, go to Settings > General > About. If Digital SIM or eSIM appears, your phone supports eSIM.
On Samsung, go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager. If Add mobile plan appears, your phone supports eSIM.
On other phones, dial *#06# or check your mobile network settings for an option to add an eSIM.
Should I choose an eSIM or a physical SIM?
Both options include the same plan features, including a real UK mobile number, UK talk and text, UK mobile data, and a Europe roaming allowance.
Choose eSIM if your phone supports it and you want fast digital delivery. Choose a physical SIM card if your phone does not support eSIM or you prefer using a removable SIM card.
What are the advantages of eSIM?
eSIM is useful because it is delivered digitally, installs by QR code, and avoids waiting for a physical SIM card to arrive.
It can also let you keep your US or Canadian SIM active if your phone supports dual SIM. That can help you receive messages from your home number, including banking codes and one-time passwords.

How do I activate my eSIM or physical SIM?
You do not need to choose an activation date when you order.
For eSIM, select eSIM when buying your plan. We send you the QR code and setup instructions. Follow the instructions to install it before you travel.
For physical SIM, follow the activation instructions supplied with your SIM card before departure.

Why does direct Three UK network access matter?
Our eSIM and physical SIM use the Three UK mobile network. Three UK and Vodafone UK merged in 2025, so your phone may use whichever network has the best available signal at your location in the UK.
In Europe, your phone automatically roams onto supported local partner networks in each country.
Many third-party travel eSIMs only provide roaming access. Some also route traffic through overseas systems, which can affect speed, latency, and reliability.
A local-style UK service with a real UK mobile number can be more useful than a data-only travel eSIM, especially for local services, bookings, and travel changes.
How much mobile data do I need?
Choose based on how much you expect to use your phone while traveling.
40GB: Best for light users who mostly use Wi-Fi, messaging, email, maps, and light browsing. Includes 6GB Europe roaming.

Why can I only use some of the data in Europe?
Your full UK data allowance can be used while you are in the UK. Europe roaming allowance depends on the plan. This is because Europe roaming is subject to roaming limits set by the network.
Example 1: If you buy the 100GB plan and only travel in the UK, you can use the full 100GB in the UK.
Example 2: If you buy the 100GB plan and travel in both the UK and Europe, you can use up to 12GB in Europe. The remaining data can be used in the UK.
Example 3: If you buy the 100GB plan and only travel in Europe, such as France, Italy, and Spain, you can use up to 12GB in Europe. The remaining UK data allowance would not be usable unless you also travel to the UK.
Need more Europe data? You can buy an additional SIM or eSIM and activate it when you use up your Europe roaming allowance.

Will my eSIM or SIM have a UK mobile number?
Yes. Both our eSIM and physical SIM include a real UK mobile number, so you can use UK talk and text.
This can help with restaurant bookings, airline changes, roadside assistance, travel forms, luggage tags, and services that ask for a local number.
UK mobile numbers usually look like 07XXX XXX XXX. In international format, the number is written as +44 7XXX XXX XXX.
What talk and text is included?
While in the UK, you can use UK talk and text with UK mobile and landline numbers, including many numbers beginning with 01, 02, 03, 07 and 0800.
While in supported European destinations, you can use talk and text with UK numbers, local numbers in the country you are visiting, and landlines or mobiles in included European countries.
Incoming talk and text is included while your service is active.
Can I contact family and friends in the United States or Canada?
You can use WhatsApp, Messenger, FaceTime, iMessage, or similar apps to call and message family and friends using mobile data or Wi-Fi.
Standard international phone calls to the United States or Canada are not the main purpose of this plan. Contact us before purchase if standard international calling is important for your trip.
Validity, delivery, support and refunds
The plan lasts for 1 month. What does that mean?
Your eSIM or physical SIM remains active for 1 month from the date of activation.
Your plan expires at 11:59pm London time on the same date in the following month. If the following month has fewer days, it expires on the last day of that month.
Examples:
- Activate on 11 April, expires at 11:59pm on 11 May
- Activate on 31 October, expires at 11:59pm on 30 November
- Activate on 29, 30 or 31 January, expires at 11:59pm on 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year
How is my eSIM or physical SIM delivered?
eSIMs are delivered digitally with setup instructions.

Most travel eSIMs are data only. That means you cannot make or receive standard mobile phone calls. Some providers only support calling and messaging through apps such as WhatsApp.
A real UK mobile number is useful while traveling. You may need it for hotels, restaurants, rideshare drivers, roadside assistance, emergency services, tour operators, bookings, delivery forms, and local services.

Unlimited data in the UK means unlimited UK data while you are in the United Kingdom.
There are no daily data caps or built-in speed restrictions on UK data.
Some providers advertise “unlimited data” but reduce speeds or limit how much data you can use each day. Europe roaming data is separate and depends on the plan you choose.

Our eSIM and SIM include UK talk and text to standard UK numbers. This includes UK landline numbers starting with 01 and 02, UK mobile numbers starting with 07, UK national numbers starting with 03, and UK freephone numbers starting with 0800.
For example, if you are in London, you can call your hotel, a restaurant, a theatre, or text a friend in Manchester.
Our eSIM and SIM also include talk and text to included European numbers when you are in Europe. This includes landlines and mobiles in the same country you are visiting, or in another included European country.
For example, if you are in France, you can call a local boulangerie, your Airbnb in Nice, your friend in Germany, your cousin in London, or text your friend in Spain.
Calls to UK 087 and 084 numbers are not included. These are non-geographic service numbers that some businesses advertise. They are shared-cost numbers and can be charged at a higher rate. If a business advertises an 087 or 084 number, check its website for a standard 01, 02 or 03 number instead.
Talk and text from the UK to Europe is not included. We recommend using WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger, or another internet calling app if you need to call or message someone in Europe while you are in the UK.
